Bathing Beauties

All was quiet these past two days and Sunday evening filled the farm with peace and serenity, making it a perfect weekend (besides the scary storms!). I went about my usual routine of cleaning and taking care of the animals. The corn yard was quiet. I am thinking Beauty might have given birth as she didn't show up for dinner with her son Browntail...they always feed together. On the way back to the barn with both horses in hand, I saw most of Brownie's 'brood' lying down together near the thicket, all chewing their cud...now that I haven't seen before! Usually the girls will take a breather, not the boys, who are most distrustful. I couldn't get close enough without disturbing them which was disappointing. Unfortunately I fell off my narrow perch on the wheel cover of the horse trailer while trying to avoid touching a large red wasp and while keeping my balance! Thankfully no humans were around to laugh at me. I loudly voiced my disappointment which caused the deer to raise up to see what had just happened. Then my reward came. I was blessed to be able to watch Brownie's bathing beauties!

(ooops, sorry for omitting the word 'could' in LB's photo).

Love how you captured the deer grooming each other, and themselves! So cute!
Little Bear doesn't chase the deer? My dogs would chase them in a heartbeat! I wish they wouldn't. I like having the deer around.
Oh, and no I don't want a picture of your snake! Ha! It would freak me out everyday! LOL!!

Your pictures are terrific. I just love the action shots of the scratching and licking. I can relate to falling down outside. It has happened to me a couple times. I was so glad there were no humans around too

What totally gorgeous pictures of the deer! WOW!!! I would so much LOVE to draw a couple of these! You really get a feel for the closeness and love between the animals from them. Thanks so much for sharing. I love to see deer, but rarely get a glimpse of them when driving over some of the mountain passes on the way to the coast. How blessed you are to have them in your back yard like that! Linda (Corgi Country)

I don't know if you have to approve blog posts before they show or if this thing just ATE my post!

I said, before, that I just love these pics of your deer! They are amazing and really show how much the animals care about each other. I would love to be able to draw a few of them...
I rarely get a chance to see a real deer... just a few times over the years when driving over the mountains to the coast. Linda (Corgi Country)
