Curious Creatures

Just as human children are curious, the same goes with furry ones. Brownie's little Buttons cannot get enough of Callie but the same goes for Callie or she wouldn't be so close watching the deer crunch their corn. She loves to follow me around as I scatter the kernals into numerous little piles so each deer can enjoy his or her daily 'dessert'.
Callie decided to watch Brownie and Buttons.
Callie, what are you doing so close to us?
Keep your distance Buttons and everything will be just fine...
But you are so different! You don't smell like my sister and my mother.
I'm warning you Buttons, go eat your corn! You have no antlers so quit that posturing! Stop stomping!

I know you don't mean to harm me, shut your mouth and go eat.
Buttons, back off, I mean it this time!

Buttons eventually tired of Callie and had his fill of corn. By the way, Thanksgiving went very well. A lot of work was completed but so worth it for our intimate gathering. Hope everyone had an equally enjoyable time. We are so blessed and very thankful! Now, if the hunters would only stay off our land, then all would be well on the farm!

I can't stop chuckling.
Sure hope this (hunting) season passes quickly for you, and without any heartbreak.

What precious photos!! This reminds me of the interactions between my cats and the donkeys. This show is my favorite way to start the day. I love Callie's spunk, and Buttons' too!

ok, that's it! I'm going to sprinkle out some corn snacks for "my" deer near the barn (shhh, don't tell. i'm sure i'll hear a million silly reason why not to do this.. lol). We must take care of our family, furry ones too!

That is too cute! I love the streak of brown as the deer is running from the little cat. Made my day. Animals are so funny, they are better than tv most of the time.

Oh my goodness...that is just the cutest thing ever! I love watching different type of animals interact with each other. Just a few weeks ago, my husband woke up at night to find Caspian "talking" with a cow elk. He would whinny at her and she would cow call back to him. Too funny.

P.S. You really should give Twilight a try. It's the PERFECT way to pass the time during winter. I didn't think I would like it at all, but I'm really glad I read the series. Maybe you could put the books on your Christmas list! :)

Om my gosh, that is adorable!! I love how Buttons has his mouth open in a couple, great shots! I totally thought of you when we went to pick out the new puppy. The place is on a gravel road right near the border of Ohio & West Virginia (in Ohio) and it was gorgeous! We saw so many deer I can now see how you might get some of the great shots you do! I didn't get any good ones because I didn't take my zoom with me, but it was just awesome to see the deer. And I also neglected to take pics of the puppies, oops! I was just so into the moment, I didn't bother with the camera. I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was alright, but I got sick from little Jimmy, we are finally feeling better today!

Loved that sequence of pictures!! Wow!!!

Now if I were to interpret, I'd say the deer was chewing like baby horses do to adults horses or other youngsters who are their superiors. Do deer chew to show submission?? It sure looks like it! That is sure one bad a** cat.

yes, julia, you are right, the fawns will open and close their mouths to tell the big ones they will be submissive. i don't see the adults doing that though. ali, so sorry you were under the weather! your puppy is adorable!
