Darling Deer

Such a sad time of year for me as gun season approaches. The big boys have all gone to other territories which leaves a few 2 year olds to watch over the herd. Nub thinks he needs to go with the older bucks and left in the beginning of the month. He did return for a couple of days and fed near his cousin BB, his mother Brownie and his twin sister Cocoa. He is gorgeous and his rack is very 'advanced' compared to his friends. He was so sluggish and relaxed. I haven't seen my three years olds for well over a couple of weeks. They split up and Bossy's Boy will return occasionally along with Bandit. Twin and Thick Neck have been gone for much longer than that. The fawns are growing like weeds and are so cute. I dislike using my long lens as they are skittish when they see it, but it seems to take better photos. Brownie's babies get so close that I have to step back in order to focus. Enjoy these beautiful faces! They each have their own personalities and are such a joy for me to watch. I know their names are simple but the names mostly describe a distinguishing feature, a personality quirk ...easier for 'Mama' to remember all of these brown four legged creatures!

Those are beautiful photos..so close...I don't like the hunting season it depresses me...but I did go out with hubby this year and I stayed in a stand to take photos...I love nature and wild life..I wish there was some way to keep the deer around....

Awe .. we have deer at the beach property. I always worry that someone will drive too fast. One morning there was a boy in our backyard. Was all alone & had slept there. I made noise so he would go away. Had to let the dogs out back and didn't want them to frighten the deer. Man they sure can jump fences ...

Thanks for sharing your gang ...

Those sweet faces just tug at your heart. I will be glad when hunting season has ended. We are not a hunting famiy, do post our property and wear orange while working in the yard. One cannot be too careful, even Winslow is in orange. Your photos are lovely, and I hope your four legged friends return safe and sound.

I have tears. Those are beautiful photos. I can tell how much you care. Who wouldn't? They ARE darling. I will be so glad when this 'season' is over with. I have a trio that I call 'mine' who hang around the barn. I love watching them, and so do the donkeys ;-) Thanks for sharing your beautiful deer! -Tammy

Kritter Keeper your photos of the deer are lovely, they look so healthy. Bright expressive eyes. Love the first photo. Our firearms season started 14 Nov and goes till 24 Nov. It has been pretty quiet around here, thankfully. We use alot of caution when outside this time of year. We see deer in the front of the house usually around midnite hoovering the acorns under our oaks. It is an especially beautiful sight when the moon is full.

I hope that all of your beauties stay safe. It seems like it would be hard to identify them from each other but I can understand how when you really get to know them individually, it really would not be hard at all. I enjoy looking at your photos.

Such sweet, sweet faces! I do hope they are not affected by the "season". :( They won't! I won't have it. :)

Thank you so much for coming by with your well wishes for all of us. We are all mending, Mocha is still slowly mending but she has her appetite back and is drinking on her own! Yay! I am hoping this is a good sign. Your thoughtfulness of leaving a comment is very touching to me....thank you ever so much!!

Lots of love and hugs...

Awwww, they're so cute. We hunt but I can still appreciate nature at it's finest. I wish them all good luck through the hunting season and hope they migrate back to you unharmed. God Bless.

Beautiful photos! I hate hunting season too. I'm so glad my husband doesn't hunt!
We have a farm around the corner from us who had a very young male show up in their barn one day. He must have lost his mama, and 'adopted' the farmers mare. He stayed for a year, and the next fall, the farmer went to the barn and he had left. I have a picture of them together somewhere. It was the sweetest thing ever, and so funny to drive by the farm and see both of them grazing together.
Hope all of your babies stay safe!

Those big beautiful dark eyes hold so many secrets. Their thin graceful legs that can run like the wind. They remind me of angels in disguise.

So many beautiful deer faces with those soft "dear" expressions. The two eating corn is one of my favorites.

Beautiful pictures. Like many of your commenters, we are not a hunting family and it makes us very sad to see the deer being killed. I understand we have to thin out the herds, but I can't understand how someone could take joy in shooting these animals. Even my husband, a guy, doesn't get what's so fun about ending a life. And they're easy pickin's--they come right up to you. I'm writing a story about it for my blog because I have to get it off my chest. Anyway, nice blog.
