Deer Devotion

It was super cold and snowy a few days ago.  It was not a day for hanging out, nor a day for any outdoor activities.  The wind blew and it was well below freezing.  Looking like a degenerate, I wore my thug hat.   It covers everything but my eyes.  The young bucks were hungry and came out early.  The chickadees chirped loudly wanting more seed.  And of course, Blue always whines about wanting more hay.  Jessie just softly nickers.  The kitties, tired of being in the tack room, meowed impatiently too.  Nobody gets turned out if it is too cold so all they think about is food.  Time to feed!
Tanner behind Ringo
Patty Pat chasing off Shy One who usually is the alpha!

I really didn't feel like doing it but the snow was too deep to throw the corn on the ground, so I got the large broom and swept away 20 spots for the deer.  Sweeping 4 inches of snow was good exercise!  My feet were so cold that day.  My toes began to hurt when I finished but it is very difficult to go inside despite uncomfortable conditions when my camera sees those beautiful faces.  Enjoy and even in the coldest conditions, all is well on the farm!

(This is Patty Pat, she is so cute and I think she is a 'she' but she has spots growing for antlers.  Her neck is female but she hangs with the boys which is unnatural especially this time of year.  More about Patty Pat later!)

I can't believe that you have the deer all named. By me they change regularly. I love your animals and descriptions! Thank you for sharing.

As always great pictures Kritter Keeper! I know how your kritters feel, when it is too cold to go out all I think about is FOOD too. Patty Pat has the sweetest face :)

Your deer are so lucky! Sweeping away 20 spots to put corn out, wow! I would have been a bit more lazy I think...though once I actually get all bundled up and get outside I enjoy being out, its just the getting there part! Good for you! And lovely shots once again, they are just so beautiful. I am so glad you do get out there =)

What great pictures! I wish we saw more deer around here. We all have too many dogs. I love the picture of the two bucks in the snow...it could be a greeting card!
I just love Patty Pat, although I am guessing that Pat is really short for Patrick!

Maybe you need to get you some of those toe warmers for those days!

Love all the pics. They must be somewhat okay with you being able to get great pics like that. How nice of you to make little
dinner spots' for them. It is so beautiful there.

Beautiful shots!! I love deer--they're peaceful, gentle--(unless you try to rope one, apparently--my neighbor did if you can believe it--very strange man, but the deer won, so all is good).

I wanted to tell you, too, you've won a book at my blog. I'm going to post about it this morning. :) It's a collection of short stories written by women--one, in particular, about learning to jump at the age of 50, is my favorite. :)

Brr, I'm cold just looking at your pictures. The deer look very content despite the cold weather. I hope all is well and you are warming up a bit. I like your header!
