Dueling Deer

The boys are now practicing their fighting skills, though a few of the younger ones are sporting hematomas and painful poke marks on their flanks (which is awful)...poor little teenagers! Thankfully, the fawns are only gently pushed away from desired corn piles. Sunday was so pretty at the farm. The lighting was perfect, I could have stayed out there all day.
Fawns are always weary of the cats, staring and stomping... slowly approaching as though a tiny cat is going to eat them!
Beautiful Callie perched on a fence post...staying away from her ex-boyfriend...Daddy Cat!

The only negative moment was discovering a poor victim of big Daddy Cat's prowess. It is surprising that as fat as he is, he can outwit a chipmunk, but then again, this was a very fat chipmunk, the largest I have seen...hmmm, maybe it is the corn!

This is so wonderful and beautiful and excellent! Is there a way to share the photos and information with school children? This is education at it's best.

Great photos of your deer

Over the weekend, we had a deer in our back yard .. at our beach place. The dog barking made it go away but not before I took a photo.

Kritter Keeper everytime I come here to visit I am overwhelmed with the beauty of your farm. The pictures of the deer are great captures and I love the second photo and the one with the kitty in the sit position giving the two dear the stare down! Bottom capture takes my breath away!

Your farmland and animals are just so lovely. I wish I could visit! It has become cold here, tomorrow I am placing the heat lamps in the girl's coop. Winter is on it's way.

Great shots of the sparring deer! What a beautiful day. I used to have a pet chipmunk just like that poor lost soul....my cat injured it as a baby and we rescued it. I kept him for several years in a hutch my father built. Kind of random, but I loved all kinds of woodland critters when I was a child! ;)
